our story begins with a jam session in a small, poorly ventilated room. you should have been there. for whatever reason, ideas were few and far between. it was fun to play drums again, or more like it was fun to beat the hell out of shedubeard’s drum kit because drumming is not one of the things i do well. once all pent-up aggression was exhausted, it was time to return bottles and cans (just clap your hands) for money. greenbacks. $6.90 worth, to be exact. the next hour was spent ripping cds from the great cd liquidation of 2004 for “backup” purposes, even though half of that stuff is not worth keeping. i suppose you’re thinking, “why not just keep those cds?” and i would say, “because it’s a li-qui-da-tion. it doesn’t have to make sense. none of this makes sense.” so, once ripping was complete, i felt the need to go rent some xbox games. it was time to get a membership at the local family video anyway. i’ve been missing out. while i was there, i saw the box for this movie from the director of this movie and i couldn’t help but feel like everything was right with the world again. balance had been restored. i left with spider-man 2 and psi-ops: the mindgate conspiracy, both for the xbox. at this point, my car was running on fumes, so i decided to track down some cheap gas. i found a speedway charging $1.80/gallon (ripoff). 17.826 gallons pumped and the next logical step was to get new windshield wiper blades. i did. i also got some fuel injector cleaner and made sure my tires had the right pressure in them because my front left was looking a little low (15 p.s.i. just doesn’t cut it these days). and since i’m a slave to my stomach, i stopped one more place to do some grocery shopping. at home again, i spent the next three and a half hours slinging webs as only tobey maguire knows how. i’ve completed 22% of the game and it’s pretty friggin’ sweet. you can run up walls, slingshot yourself with webbing, and deliver pizza as spider-man. the best part was when the villain ‘mysterio’ says, “you have no chance to survive, make your time.” classic.
