don’t ever forget that. but the cost is irrelevant, right? what matters is that we remain steadfast and never show weakness. oh yeah, the bodies will pile up and mothers will continue to grieve on the president’s doorstep. and a lot of money will be sucked into the black hole of the war-torn middle east. i’m curious, though… what happens if that money could have been used to prevent, say, a massive catastrophe such as a flooded city? here’s a chronology of gross negligence.

maybe i’m not seeing the whole picture here, but i thought our government was supposed to protect us from all threats, not just the fundamentalist ones. i don’t live in a city that’s underwater right now, but i’m still really pissed. if this kind of complete incompetence continues, a lot more people are going to suffer and die.
it’s not just flood control funding, either. it’s education, it’s health care, it’s environmental, it’s border control, it’s everything that is currently being ignored. for the bush administration, governing this country consists of war and tax cuts. ok, i’m being a bit too simplistic, i know. the point i’m trying to make is that bad is quickly becoming worse, and we don’t need national disasters to open our eyes. i would hope not, anyway. i’m beginning to think our eyes will never reopen.
i take comfort in knowing that we have dvds, like the one pictured above, to ease the tension of posts like this. i think everyone can relate to a thong being stretched between two fingers.
