i finally got to see the fantastic 4‘s big screen debut. i never read the comic, but even i know that ‘the thing’ is supposed to have a pronounced brow.
the worst part of the movie was jessica alba. sure, she’s eye candy, but she’s such a flat actress. i watched some behind the scenes interviews, and alba was asked what attracted her to the role of sue storm. her response… “i think, first and foremost, her intelligence.” yet, her portrayal made sue storm the dumbest of the four.
michael chiklis (the shield) played ‘the thing’. and aside from the missing brow, he was alright. big, gruff, stony, and irritable.
horatio hornblower played reed richards a.k.a. mr. fantastic. i was a little disappointed, because he just wasn’t fantastic enough. his stretched out arms were too hairy.
then there was human torch and the evil doctor doom. they were cool.
while there are better super hero movies out there, this one doesn’t smell as bad as daredevil or blade: trinity. it’s just sorta average. fun, but not frickin’ sweet. maybe the sequel will be better.
