daisy got her first taste of scorpion love two nights ago. she was sniffing around in the backyard, when she recoiled and started shaking her head like she sniffed something foul. then she went back and did the same thing. it was dark and i didn’t know what was down there, so i grabbed her and pulled her back. for all i knew, it could have been a baby rattler. i saw a strange shape slowly walk away from us.
i took daisy in the house and grabbed a flashlight. i spent a few minutes locating the creature and then i pounded it with a rock. it was only about an inch long, but it was looking at me funny. hopefully, i sent a message to the bark scorpion community not to try entering our house.
last night, we found one of these guys on the back porch. i haven’t seen a stick bug up close before. it was pretty cool. i left it alone, because it didn’t try to sting or bite me when i picked it up.
also, be careful when cleaning out a 50 year-old dishwasher. it just may decide to take a chunk out of your finger. then your harry potter band aids will get so soaked with blood, you’ll have to throw them away!
