on our walk from the parking lot to the theater, we encountered two pre-teen girls asking if “rocky horror picture show” was playing that evening. i told them that it was not and they asked what was. i told them “labyrinth” and they asked what it was. i told them it’s an 80s movie with david bowie. they said they didn’t know him. kids these days.

we watched the movie in full theater glory, not to mention audience participation. everything from singing along with songs to exuberant laughing every time david bowie’s bulge was displayed in gigantic glory.

i’m really starting to get the hang of this music software. it’s fun spending a few hours trying to create something. it’s enjoyable for me and equally enjoyable for you (i hope).

the best part is that i’m actually getting paid to do this. talk about frickin’ awesome.

the worst part is that i should be doing homework during this time, but instead i can’t help but create songs. well, whatever. school is overrated anyway.

this one’s called “under cover.”

i thought i posted this at some point, but i can’t find anything in searches. this is my favorite crowning achievement of crap. the music isn’t so bad, but the lyrics are beyond banal. and because of how bad it is, i can’t stop watching it.

at my “job” in the college’s midi lab, i made another song. i might explore this idea a little more since the end didn’t work the way i wanted and it could be much better with more parts and longer sections. every time i’m messing around with the software, i find new things to try. like the guitar plugin, although it would sound better just playing a guitar instead of using a keyboard to synthesize a guitar.

the story behind the “vocals” is something i was reading in a william s. burroughs’ book. one of the characters talks about a substance found in south america called “yage” which stimulates telepathic abilities in its users.

this is funny:

i think someone needs to tell him that it’s not may yet.
