we’re in

moving into our new home took about a week. last weekend (including monday) was when we did the bulk of the move. then we spent the rest of this past week recovering. we still don’t have everything unpacked and probably won’t for a good time.

we did manage to get a fridge and stove, so that we can keep things cold and then cook them. oh, and of course there was the satellite dish. oh my, i had forgotten how great it is. don’t get me wrong, i still hate tv, but now i have the best tv to hate. it’s necessary to have the best, otherwise where would my contempt go?

one thing i don’t like about owning a home is the telemarketers. yes, i need to put our name on the opt out list. and yes, it is partly our own damn fault for going to that infernal “home show” (marketing scheme) and signing up for every “drawing” (calling list) there was. we are going to go to a bigger “home show” next weekend and we are not signing up for any “drawings.” i already have all my responses ready: “i don’t win things.” “they said i wouldn’t get called last time and they lied.” “i pooped a hammer.”

and of course, what would owning a home be like without some upkeep? our furnace needs a new valve, our toilets need new guts, our outlets need the third ground prong, and our new fridge needs water for ice.

but none of that matters, because as teresa’s dad pointed out: all you really need is the lime tree in the backyard. check.
