They Serve Food at the Bung Bung Club!

Tonight, we got some pizza from the Domihoes. It’s been awhile for me. Better yet, we had it delivered so I could feel the driver’s pain when he walked up to our front door.

The pizza wasn’t bad. Initially, I wasn’t convinced with their whole ‘re-envisioning’ of the pizza campaign not too long ago. I think the changes they made were good in the long run. The pizza is now marginally palatable. And their new cheese stuffed breadsticks are terribly heart-stopping.

What I want to know is, where is my taco pizza? I still can’t figure out why the eff no one has done this yet.

Oh, The Sweet Bliss

All games have been received and the Game Fuel has been procured. Commence end-of-semester total procrastination game-a-thon.

Me: 1
The Universe: 0

It’s ok, because there is still time to get my work done after I kick the Joker’s henchmen’s asses as well as finding some buried treasures in France and some desert location.

Thwarted At Every Turn

So far, my attempts to sabotage my end of semester obligations have failed on an epic scale. I bought two games in Amazon’s special Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals, because the price was rightish. But the first game has gone deep into the black hole that is holiday shipping hell and I have no idea when I’ll be getting it even though it says that it shipped from Phoenix last Saturday. On top of that, I haven’t been able to locate any Game Fuel, which is fine since I have no new games to fuel up for anyway. It seems like the universe is trying to tell me to get my shit done for my classes before I can enjoy some lengthy game time. I’m a procrastinator, and even though I’ve gotten a lot better these last couple semesters, I still like to party as much as a I study. All work and no play make Zax a dull boy.

Tonight, I will be getting the second game according to the package tracking. X-mas is coming early this year (in my pants). I will need to get some work done, too, so I can’t play it endlessly all night long like I really want to (with my impossible to find Game Fuel). For every hour of game time, I need to do two hours of schoolwork. Yeah, that’ll happen.

We Need A Cybernetic Hero

I just finished reading Frank Miller’s Robocop comic. The 9 issues were interesting, but mostly not that great. The story elements came from Miller’s original script for Robocop 2. While I enjoy Robocop 2 for what it is, a fun popcorn Sci-Fi/Action sequel, it’s not without flaws. The whole movie franchise is fun to watch every now and then, with the first one being the best. The last couple years, there have been talks of restarting the franchise with a remake/reboot/re-imagining/re-whatever. I’d like to see it, but I’m not very hopeful. It always seems like a good idea until they actually do it and it sucks. Unless, of course, Christopher Nolan does it and then we’d have nothing to worry about.

Predator Wounds

Last night, I was alerted to a movie on Netflix streaming that was so bad it was just wretched. These days I have less and less time for the bad stuff. My Netflix streaming queue used to be filled to the gills with 1-star wonders, everything from 80s schlock to low-budge action starring Christian Slater and Cuba Gooding Jr. (there are many). Now I have mostly high star-rated sophisticated artsy fartsy stuff and TV shows.

But this movie, called Flesh Wounds, is basically a complete rip-off of Predator. I had to see it for myself, so I started it up. OMG! It was a total suckfest with almost nothing original. The big main difference was that the “predator” was actually a super-charged cyborgish soldier.

It was such a rip-off, though, that it almost felt like the director was just watching Predator behind the camera. All the memorable scenes were present: the “predator view” showing heat signatures with the altered audio and the breathing sounds in the background, the “there’s something out there” moment, the shooting all your ammo into the jungle bit, the bad guy fixing his wounds and yelling about the pain part, the girl getting sprayed with blood, the “if people died here, where are the bodies?” one, and on and on. I kind of feel like some production company wanted to do a remake, but couldn’t get the rights to use the characters and title, so they just went rogue and did it anyway. Even the music was way too close.

I couldn’t actually finish the movie, but it was fun seeing how much they could fit into such a short time. The Mockbuster genre lives on!
